Frequently Asked Questions About the YES Home

Youth ages 12–20 who need a safe, structured, trauma-informed residential setting — including youth experiencing behavioral, emotional, or mental health challenges, trauma, abuse, neglect, family instability, running away, juvenile justice involvement, or transition from a more intensive placement.
Admission decisions are made individually in partnership with the placing agency. Before admission, the YES Home reviews each youth's needs to determine whether our program can provide safe, appropriate care.
Referrals are accepted from the Indiana Department of Child Services and Juvenile Probation offices.
Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP) care, Emergency Shelter Care (up to 20 days), and Long-Term Care, with counseling, therapeutic groups, and 24-hour support.
A nationally recognized, restraint-free crisis management approach grounded in trauma-informed care. Every staff member is trained in it, built on "comfort over control" rather than restraint, seclusion, or coercive practices.
Yes — Parent Cafés are offered for families connected to the program and caregivers in the wider community, providing a guided space to connect and share strategies.
Each youth gets an individualized assessment and is matched with a qualified therapist. Youth also participate in structured groups (MRT, ART, DBT skills, mindfulness, interactive journaling) and independent living skills training covering budgeting, cooking, employment readiness, and more.

Applicants must be at least 21, have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, pass required background checks, and complete the YES Home's 40-hour orientation and childcare training.

Yes — current opportunities include facility projects, meal/snack donations, donation drives, and organizing projects. On-site volunteers must generally be 21+; volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or approved adult supervisor. Please see our volunteering page to learn more and contact us to inquire about volunteering with the YES Home.
Through the YES Home's Amazon wish list, which lists ongoing needs like hygiene items, clothing, and personal-care items that ship straight to the facility.

Yes, the YES Home was founded in 1981 as a 501(c)(3) organization. If you would like to make a financial donation to the YES Home, you may make a recurring or one-time donation online on our donate page. Please contact us to request our Federal Tax ID.
Since 1981, in a historic building that underwent a nearly $1 million renovation completed in 2003, with a further renovation in 2025 creating the Piché Adolescent Counseling Center.
